Lockport, NY (September 16, 2011) -- The winner
of the twenty second annual Weeks Family Foundation scholarship is
Emily Gendrue, a June 2011 graduate of Barker Central School
District. Emily is the daughter of Michael and Michelle
Gendrue of Gasport, NY.
Emily will receive $1,000 a year for the next
four years to study Psychology at Grove City College.
Since its inception the Weeks Family Foundation
has distributed nearly $85,000 to its scholarship winners.
R. Thomas Weeks, director of the Weeks Family
Foundation, said the four-year scholarship was awarded on the basis
of Emily’s class rank, extracurricular activities, school offices
held, community involvement, employment accomplishments,
recommendations and an essay on education.
Applications for the 2012 Weeks Family
Foundation Scholarship will be available in the guidance offices of
the Albion, Barker, Lockport, Newfane, Royalton Hartland and
Starpoint High Schools November 1, 2011, or online at www.grsbuses.com. The closing date
for the application is March 5, 2012.
